Resistor Color Code

As there are many different types of Resistor available we need to form of resistor colour code system to be able to identify them.

Resistors can be used in both electrical and electronic circuits to control the flow of current or to produce a voltage drop in many different ways. But in order to do this the actual resistor needs to have some form of “resistive” or “resistance” value. Resistors are available in a range of different resistance values from fractions of an Ohm ( Ω ) to millions of Ohms.

Objective:

Implement a system to identify resistor resistance values using the standard resistor color code.
Decode color bands on resistors to determine resistance value, tolerance, and possibly temperature coefficient.
Provide an easy and accurate method for identifying resistors in electrical and electronic circuits.
Enable users to quickly determine the resistance value of a resistor, ranging from fractions of an Ohm to millions of Ohms.
Help in controlling current flow, dividing voltages, or limiting current in various applications.

Resistor Color Code Indications and Purposes:

Black (0)
- Represents: 0
- Purpose: Indicates the first or second digit in the resistor value.
Brown (1)
- Represents: 1
- Purpose: Indicates the first or second digit in the resistor value; also used for tolerance (±1%).
Red (2)
- Represents: 2
- Purpose: Indicates the first or second digit in the resistor value; also used for tolerance (±2%).
Orange (3)
- Represents: 3
- Purpose: Indicates the first or second digit in the resistor value.
Yellow (4)
- Represents: 4
- Purpose: Indicates the first or second digit in the resistor value.
Green (5)
- Represents: 5
- Purpose: Indicates the first or second digit in the resistor value; also used for tolerance (±0.5%).
Blue (6)
- Represents: 6
- Purpose: Indicates the first or second digit in the resistor value; also used for tolerance (±0.25%).
Violet (7)
- Represents: 7
- Purpose: Indicates the first or second digit in the resistor value; also used for tolerance (±0.1%).
Gray (8)
- Represents: 8
- Purpose: Indicates the first or second digit in the resistor value.
White (9)
- Represents: 9
- Purpose: Indicates the first or second digit in the resistor value.
Gold
- Represents: Multiplier of 0.1
- Purpose: Indicates a tolerance of ±5%; also used for resistors with low resistance values.
Silver
- Represents: Multiplier of 0.01
- Purpose: Indicates a tolerance of ±10%; also used for resistors with low resistance values.
No Color
- Represents: Tolerance of ±20%
- Purpose: Indicates low precision or non-standard tolerance.
