For our second digital project, students created songs using found sounds. These sounds could include clips from existing songs (ex. Saweetie & GALXARA in Emma Ghirardo's "ABA Form"), recorded audio from around us (ex. the 7th grade yelling "Fantastic! Terrific!" in Justin Gaylall's "Short Lived"), or even sound effects (ex. the altered train horns in Leyla Afifi's "Train, Oh Train!" or mysterious *dog-eating-cardboard* sound in Rivaldo Garcia's "Yes"). Each song is in ABA form: it returns to the musical ideas from the beginning at the end, with a contrasting section in the middle. The five featured projects at the top were voted by students as their favorites from each class.

For our final project, students created podcasts to introduce someone to a song they might not be familiar with. Our goal was to share a personal perspective and key details of the song to help others listen closely to something new. We hope that by sharing these different songs, we can combat biases people have against genres of music we are unfamiliar with. At the top, Dr. Shieh has chosen four projects to feature from the 7th grade.
