Welcome to Worcester English Language Development (ELD)

ELD at Methacton

The English Language Development Program was formerly known as "English as a Second Language (ESL)."

Many English Learners (also known as ELs) were born in the United States.

Some do not speak their family's language.

Over 120 students are currently in the ELD program

The most common home languages are Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and the languages of India.

Methacton is required by law to assess the English language proficiency of all students from a home where another language is spoken.
