This policy explains how AI Smart Compass ("the App") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. The App can be used without creating an account or signing in.
1. Information We Collect and Use
1) Device sensor data (processed on-device)
- The App uses the magnetometer (compass) and accelerometer/orientation sensors to calculate bearing and tilt in real time.
- This sensor data is processed only on your device and is not transmitted to or stored on any server.
2) Location (GPS)
- With your permission, the App uses your current location (latitude/longitude) to automatically correct the difference between magnetic north and true north (declination) using the World Magnetic Model (WMM). This calculation happens on your device.
- If you choose to attach your location when saving a measurement ("snapshot"), those coordinates are stored together with the record. Attaching location is optional.
- You may deny or revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings; only the automatic declination correction will be limited.
3) Saved measurements (snapshots)
- Only when you choose to save a measurement, the App stores the title, bearing, tilt (pitch/roll), your note, the timestamp, and (if selected) location coordinates.
- This data is stored via our backend service provider (vibe-x, app.vibe-x.app) so you can review it later in the history screen.
- You can delete saved records at any time from the "History" screen in the App.
4) Preferences
- App settings (theme, measurement mode, declination auto-correction on/off, etc.) are stored locally on your device (localStorage) and are not sent to any server.
2. Purposes of Use
- Provide core features (compass, level, combined measurement)
- Improve accuracy through declination correction
- Store and let you review measurements you save
- Persist your app settings
- Serve ads and operate the service
3. Third Parties and Processors
We do not sell your information. Some information may be processed by the following service providers:
- vibe-x — backend infrastructure for storing/retrieving saved measurements
4. Permissions
- Location: automatic declination correction and (optionally) attaching location to a saved record
- Motion / orientation sensors: compass and level measurement
5. Retention and Deletion
- Sensor data is not stored (processed in real time and discarded).
- Saved measurements are retained until you delete them; you can delete each one from the "History" screen.
- Local settings are removed when you clear app data or uninstall the App.

6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS). However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect legal or service changes. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date.
