On page 187 and 188 in the Student Activity Math Book, Solve the story problems using comparison bars and write the equation. Use the key below along with Tuesdays lesson plans to help solve the problems. Solve numbers 1-15 by subtracting.
Review the magic e sound where the a says its name a_e it makes the sound /ae/. Today they will learn two more spellings for the /ae/ sound. The /ae/ sound can also be spelled ai like in “wait” and as a ay like in “day”. Complete activity page 1 & 2.
Listen to "What Do a Flag, a Bell, and an Eagle Have in Common" and then answer these questions orally:
What was the main topic, or main idea, of the read-aloud? (Our nation has many symbols, including a flag, a bell, and an eagle. This read-aloud discussed why those three items are symbols of our nation.)
How and why has our flag changed in appearance over the years? (It has added more stars because more states have been added; there are now fifty stars instead of thirteen.)
