Unit 6 Lesson 10-Pg. 47 and 48 in Reading Packet
Read The Band
Hansel and Gretel Part 2
Count by 1’s to 120 one time. Then start at 100 and count to 120 three times. Talk about how columns are like big poles that stand up and down and they can help support a building. When we write in columns we start at the top and write downwards. Talk about how rows are like seats in a movie theater, side to side. When we write in rows we write left to right.
On page 160 in the Student Activity Math Book, write the numbers 1-120 in rows. The number 3 goes TO THE RIGHT of the number 2.
When finished, Look at the number 10 and below it all the way to 120 and notice how the numbers start at 10 and go up by 10 as you go down the column! 10, 20, 30, 40…..120. When you write the numbers in rows, the numbers above are 10 less and the numbers below are 10 more. In order to answer 11-14 you have to think about the grid and which way is less and which way is more.
Introduce the /n/ sound, have student practice saying it and notice their mouth. The /n/ sound has 3 different spellings kn, nn, n. like in knock, running, and nut.
Complete activity page 47 & 48 together.
