A Taxing Time: The Boston Tea Party
Have your child complete pages 167 and 168 in the Student Activity Math Book independently. If they need help reading, you can help them. If they get stuck, talk about the different methods they could use to solve (fingers, drawing ten sticks/one circles, counting all, counting on, etc) If they still need help, you can help them solve step by step. Make sure to read the story problem several times through and underline the numbers along with deciding what kind of equation to write.
Practice making your own sentences using pronouns; he, she, it, they, I.
Read In the Storm Shelter and answer the comprehension questions orally.
Why are the Spencers in the storm shelter?
What did Mr. Spencer see when he peeked out from the storm shelter?
Describe what you do when it storms.
Listen to "A Taxing Time: The Boston Tea Party" and then answer these questions orally:
What are taxes, and what are they used for?
