On pg. 139 in the Student Activity Math Book match the addition equation with the correct “counting on” picture. Ex: 1. 8+__=12 connects to 8 and 4 dots.

Solve the story problems on page 140. Use these steps to help solve!

1. Read the problem all the way through 3 times

2. Underline the numbers in the problem

3. Decide if it is an adding on or take away problem.

4. Write an Equation

5. Show your work! (Use circles/ten sticks, draw a picture, solve the equation)

-Introduce tricky word “picture” tricky words do not follow the rules. Have them say each sound phonetically and look at the word. –ture makes its own sound.

-Read The Hike and answer comprehension questions orally
