Establishing a Closed POD Plan for your organization will ensure the steps you take towards preparedness now will benefit your staff, clients, and business operations into the future. Plans can take many forms and are meant to be changed and updated as the process is improved through training and exercising.

If your organization already has a Closed POD Plan in place, please review it to make sure it is up to date and includes all of the information necessary to operate a successful Closed POD.

            • Appoint a Planning Committee

            • Determine your dispensing population

        • Organize Your Staff

            • Determine POD organizational structure

            • Determine staffing needs

        • Prepare Your Facility

            • Identify the dispensing location

            • Identify/purchase/store necessary supplies from the Inventory List

        • Develop Your Procedures

            • Determine procedures specifically related to the activation, set-up, operation and deactivation of the dispensing site

            • Determine how you'll receive the medication/vaccination

            • Determine how you'll return excess medication/vaccination

        • Educate and Train Your Staff

            • Use Job Action Sheets to help individuals understand the role they will fill in your organization's Closed POD

        • Exercise Your Plan

            • This is the best way to identify problems that can be rectified before an emergency occurs
