Costume Contest

The Halloween fun continues at Mesa Community College! We are holding a Virtual Costume Contest to choose the scariest, cutest, and best overall costume. Please submit your entry, including a photo of your costume at THIS LINK, now through October 27. The winners of each of the 3 categories will win a Mystery MCC Swag Bag, which will be sent to you in the mail. Please note, this contest is for MCC students only.

A Virtual Boot Camp for High School Seniors and Community College Transfer Students: Get the tools and tips necessary to enter a four-year college or university at this virtual boot camp. Workshop topics include everything from understanding and navigating the College Admission Process to college life expectations, financial aid and more. PTK 21-Day Race & Equity Challenge

Phi Theta Kappa ΦΘΚ Omicron Beta Chapter at Mesa Community College invites you to participate in a "21 Day Race & Equity Challenge" to create dedicated time and space and build more effective habits, particularly those dealing with issues of diversity, racial equity and inclusiveness, and leadership on your own time.

Participants will be presented with challenges to engage with for 15 -30 mins each day, such as reading an article, listening to a podcast, reflecting on personal experience and more on their own time. Participation in an activity like this helps us to discover how racial injustice and social injustice impact our community, to connect with one another, and to identify ways to dismantle racism and other forms of discrimination. This is an exciting opportunity to take a deeper dive into diversity, racial equity and inclusiveness related topics. We invite you to join us on this journey and we can’t wait to get started!

Jarrod's Halloween Spooktacular with the American Indian Institute and GCU

Wednesday, October 28, 2020, join the American Indian Institute and Grand Canyon University at Jarrod's Coffee, Tea, and Gallery for a fun Halloween event and pizza party from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

There will be games, candy, and coffee and we're calling all goblins, ghosts and creatures of the night to creep, float, or crawl on over to our exciting Halloween costume and pizza party! Be there or be scared!

We Care Wednesday

We Care Wednesday is a food distribution that takes place on the first Wednesday of every month (and starting in November, the 3rd Wednesday of each month at Red Mountain). The food distributions are open to all students and families in need of food assistance:

  • Drive-thru service. A volunteer will place food in your trunk or vehicle. (Walk-up service is available for those without vehicles.)

  • Masks are required. If you are feeling any cold or flu symptoms, please stay home and seek medical treatment.

  • Southern Dobson: Located in the Southwest parking lot. Please enter from Dobson Road onto Solar Way at the Southern and Dobson campus.

  • Red Mountain: Located in the Red Mountain Way Circle. Please enter from McKellips Rd and proceed straight through the stop sign. Distribution takes place in the former Bus Stop circle near the library. *Starting November 18

Southern/Dobson Dates: Nov. 4, Dec. 2, and Jan. 6

Red Mountain Dates: Nov 18, Dec 16, and Jan 20

Every week students can order a food bag filled with basic food pantry items. Hygiene products and school supplies will also be available. Curbside services are available at both the Red Mountain and Southern and Dobson campuses. Curbside services need to be scheduled by noon the day before your pick-up.

Southern and Dobson Campus

Access the Southern and Dobson pickup from the Library Entrance east of Dobson Road

Tuesdays- 10 am-12 pm (schedule curbside service by noon on Monday)

Thursdays- 4 pm-6 pm (schedule curbside service by noon on Wednesday)

Red Mountain Campus

The Red Mountain pickup site is at the Red Mountain Way (bus stop by the flagpole) in front of the Mesquite building

Wednesdays- 11 am-1 pm (schedule curbside service by noon on Tuesday)

Every Tuesday at 11 am, your Student Ambassadors will be online to answer questions, offer support, or just to chat! Join them through Google Meet by using this link. The MCC Student Ambassadors are here for you! Stop by and say HI! We're all in this together and it's so important to get engaged on campus, develop friendships and connections to your peers. Career Services Virtual Workshops

The Career Services staff is going to be hosting virtual workshops for the Fall 2020 semester. We will host workshops every Tuesday through December 1st. The workshops will take place three times each Tuesday at 10am , 2pm, and 6pm to reach as many students as possible. The topics of our workshops for the semester will be Resume/Cover Letter Writing and Interviewing. The links for each of the workshops can be found on the Events Calendar on the Career Services webpage. Each workshop is an hour long.

The MCC Center for Community & Civic Engagement has a variety of activities planned for the fall semester. For more details, please visit their webpage.

CIVIC ACTION HOUR: Wednesdays from 12-1 pm (see flyer below or visit their website for full line up or speakers)

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT EVENTS: Students can participate in a variety of events, projects, and civic engagement opportunities throughout the semester. Get your Civic Engagement Scorecard and be recognized as a Civic Scholar. Students can self enroll in a Civic Engagement Canvas course and track your progress and activities.
