STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. Inspired by the Disney Imagineers' design process, students in STEAM Academy work in teams to develop their own story-based, theme park attraction. They develop all aspects of their attraction and create a simulation of their ride using Minecraft. The course stresses problem solving skills with interesting, hands-on challenges and a heavy emphasis on creativity and design. This seven-week course is meant to be collaborative, creative, and fun!
