Very helpful items for all students:

Music Stand: A music stand usually comes included in the starter kits that Music & Arts sells. NEMC sells them separately from their starter kit. The starter kits usually contains cleaning swabs, cloths, brushes, lubricants and other accessories that are likely not in the instrument cases. Please do not bring the music stand or larger starter kit boxes to school. We have music stands at school, and the students already have plenty of things to carry!

Access to a computer, laptop, or chromebook with speakers & microphone for essential elements interactive and/or Smartmusic. (some tablets also work with these applications)

Essential Elements Interactive: This is an interactive computer application included with essential elements method book and requires no additional fee. It sometimes requires that I give the student the password information to register their application and use it. You can find a copy of the Quick Start Guide on my Essential Elements Interactive page on this website. Just click on the tab above and follow the directions. Every one of my students will be registered to use this program.

Smartmusic student subscription: This application is a more expansive program than Essential Elements Interactive and is what we use in the classroom. The first 100 etudes in Essential Elements are free for students. More use requires a yearly subscription fee.

These items, although handy, are no longer needed because they can be attained at no cost:

Metronome: This is included in Essential Elements Interactive, Smartmusic, and can now be downloaded as a free computer application for a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Tuner: This is included in Essential Elements Interactive, Smartmusic, and can now be downloaded as a free computer application for a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
