Hello! I am Chelsea Stewart, and this is my 10th year teaching at Meridian High School but my 11th year teaching total. I currently teach English I Honors, English III, and an elective English called Modern Mystery.

My name is Chelsea Stewart, and I teach at Meridian High School in Macon, Illinois. My journey through college was slightly unconventional. I started off at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, but I decided their education program didn't really fit my needs. After that, I transferred to Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, where I finished my degree in English education with a writing minor and a middle school endorsement. I also took classes at Richland Community College in Decatur, Illinois, while I was in high school and during summers. In 2021 I also received my MA in English with a concentration in British literature.
Traveling is a passion of mine, and I am lucky to have been to some amazing places. Some of my favorites include Hawaii (multiple islands); New Orleans, Louisiana; Washington, D.C.; Sacramento, California; Nashville, Tennessee; Asheville, North Carolina; and Miami, Florida.
I love spending time with my family. I have a husband named Andrew and a son named Rowan. We also have two cats: Cici and Willow. We love our little family and try to go on as many adventures as possible!
When it comes to the classroom, my Modern Mystery class is my favorite, but I think that's because it was something I was able to design on my own. There was nothing already set that students and faculty were used to. I have always found mysteries to be fascinating because I always wanted to know how the story would end. My students tend to agree, and they sometimes ask if they can read "just one more chapter" if there's a cliffhanger. Other units that I really enjoy would have to be Unwind, Of Mice and Men, and our historical fiction unit in my honors class, I Must Betray You.
