It is very easy to turn your computer screen back to the correct way if it is accidentally turned upside down or sideways.
Press the ctrl + shift + rotate buttons all at the same time.
The rotate button is the fourth button from the left on the top row. It looks like a circular arrow.
Continue to press all three buttons at the same time until the screen is back to the correct spot.
To connect your Chromebook to WiFi follow these steps:
Click on the Quick Settings Panel on the bottom right of the screen.
Click on No Network.
Select the WiFi network you want to connect to.
Put in the WiFi password if you are prompted to.
If your Chromebook screen is frozen please try to reset it by holding in the power button for 5 seconds to turn the Chromebook off. Then simply turn it back on again. This should resolve the issue.
If your screen is frozen and it will not turn off by pressing the power button you will need to contact the Technology Department at school. The number is 585-798-2100. Your computer most likely needs a replacement power button. (This issue tends to happen after a student has taken the STAR exam.)
Your Chromebook most likely has the Caps Lock turned on if the letters are not properly displaying uppercase and lowercase. To turn Caps Lock off/on do the following:
Press the search and alt button at the same time. This will turn off/on Caps Lock.
The search button is button that looks like a magnifying glass and is located directly under the tab button.
The alt button is clearly marked on the bottom row.
If you have been charging your Chromebook and it still won't turn on try following these steps:
First plug the Chromebook into the charger. Is the little light turning on next to the charge port? (It does not matter what color the light is.)
If no light is turning on, try the other charge port on the opposite side of your Chromebook. (Maybe one of your Chromebook charging ports does not work correctly and you need to remember to use the other one.)
If the light does not work on that side either, you will need to contact the Technology Department at school. The number is 585-798-2100.
If the light does turn on but your Chromebooks still won't turn on try holding in the power button while pressing down the rotate button at the same time for 5 seconds then let go of all buttons. (The rotate button is the fourth button from the left on the top row. It looks like a circular arrow.) Wait for another 5 seconds and then try the power button again. Remember: The Chromebook needs to be plugged in for this reset method to work!
If your Chromebook still will not turn on after trying all of the steps listed above, you will need to contact the Technology Department at school. They can be reached at 585-798-2100.
Do not wait until your Chromebook's battery is completely dead before plugging it into the charger!
If the battery is completely dead it will take awhile to recharge. While it is recharging it may not turn on-even if it is plugged in. You will simply need to wait for it to charge.
One issue this may be is your keyboard is in the wrong language and therefore not reading the password you are entering correctly. To know is this is the case, look in the bottom right corner and you should see US. If you see BE or something else, your keyboard is in the wrong language. To fix... Click on the letters- click on Keyboard option- scroll down and click on the US keyboard. This should fix the issue.
