Hi Kindergarten Families!
I hope you all had a great weekend! For those families who have had me as their older child's teacher, please note that I will NOT be sending out weekly newsletters like I have in the past. Instead I'll be sending out info as it comes up. Because it's the beginning of the school year, there is a ton of information in this update. So grab a snack and let me thank you beforehand for reading the following items:
Take-Home Folders
Each student now has a plastic folder in their backpack labeled Take-Home Folder. The inside pockets have labels with icons to help students and families stay organized with papers. Please be sure to check your child's take-home folder every day for work and notes. Please send all notes to school in the Take to School pocket of the take-home folder. Thank you!
Changes in Dismissal
All changes in dismissal must be sent in with a note - not email, unless told otherwise. Please include the date, your child's first and last name, and your name on the note. For last minute changes (because emergencies do happen), please call the Office before 3:00 PM.
Car-Rider Signs
Families that are picking up their student in the car-rider line must have the pink, school-issued sign displayed on their dash or hanging on the passenger-side window/visor in order to have their student released. Families that do not have the pink, school-issued sign must park their car and walk to the front of the building to sign out their child in the Office. (Don't forget to always have your ID when coming to the school.) Please let me know if you need a new sign. Thanks!
Breakfast at School
If your child is supposed to consistently have school-issued breakfast, please send me an email so I can remind them.
Water Bottles
I have purchased plastic, sport water bottles from Amazon for the students to use at school. These water bottles will stay at school until the year ends. There is a water-bottle filling station outside our classroom so kids can have fresh water each day. The water bottles will be emptied and air-dried each night. They will be washed on Friday so that they are sanitized and ready to go for the following week. Starting Wednesday, September 3rd, all other water bottles can now stay home. Thanks!
Drinks with Lunches
Students that do not have a beverage in their lunchbox will be able to take their plastic, classroom water bottle to lunch. All drinks in lunchboxes should be sealed/closed tightly in order to prevent leaking.
Milk Purchases for Packers
Students that pack their lunch are welcome to purchase milk from the cafeteria. (Milk costs $.50.) Please communicate with your child if that is something you want them to do, and send me an email as well so I can remind them.
Lunch Numbers
All students received a paper keypad at Meet-The-Teacher with their lunch number written at the top. This is also your child's student ID number. All students should have this number memorized.
For those that buy/receive breakfast and/or lunch, please practice typing it on the paper keypad. Students have to type in their number on the real keypad before receiving their food in the breakfast/lunch line. I made each child a lunch number card to take with them to lunch, but the line moves much faster when everyone has their number memorized. Thank you for helping your child be independent!
Lunchboxes
Please communicate with your child what you want them to bring home from lunch. Obviously, wet food packages that are opened will be thrown away.
Encore
I made a yearly Encore schedule for families so they know which Encore their child will be participating in each day. Please note which group (either Pansies or Lilacs) is highlighted on your child's September calendar and follow that group's schedule for the rest of the year.
Classroom Google Calendar
I created a classroom Google Calendar for families to reference throughout the year. I try to include important dates for our classroom, from Mrs. Dodez, and from the District. Please bookmark this link for future reference: Ms. Fabich's Classroom Calendar. The calendar can also be found on my classroom website.
Classroom Website
Please check out my classroom website (linked below in my email signature) for current and past announcements. You'll also find links to important Medina City Schools and Northrop websites, the daily class schedule, and Request for Vacation form.
English & Language Arts CKLA Papers
We will begin CKLA this week. Students will be bringing home papers almost every day. The purpose of these papers is to help families know what their child is working on and how to best practice new skills. These papers should stay home; they do not have to be returned.
Conference Sign Up
The SignUp Genius for virtual family-teacher conferences will be sent out tomorrow on Wednesday, September 3rd around 7:00 PM. Each family is encouraged to sign up for one fall conference.
Classroom Party Volunteer Sign Up
The SignUp Genius for classroom party volunteers will be sent out this Thursday, September 4th around 7:00 PM. Mrs. Dodez is allowing 3 volunteers max per party, per classroom. To share the wealth, please only sign up for one party and preferably not a day where you are already volunteering for a different teacher's party. (For example: If you signed up for your other child's Valentine's Day party, then you cannot sign up for our classroom's Valentine's Day party since they are the same day and time.) Please pay attention to the dates as some dates are specific to kindergarten.
