Children of all ages must be physically, mentally and emotionally healthy so they are able to learn. Manchester Essex school nurses promote the health and safety of our students in school, at home, and in the community.

Nausea and vomitting is on the rise at school. May or may not have a fever.
Upper Respiratory complaints are also present.
Please remember to keep your child home if they have a fever of 100.0 or higher. They must be fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT fever reducing medication.
Physical exams and updated immunizations are required if your child is in grade 7 or 10. If you have not done so yet, please forward them to health services.

Throughout a child's school career, the Massachusetts State Department of Public Health, School Health Unit, requires certain screenings to be completed by the School Nurse. The mandated screenings are listed below:
Vision and Hearing is tested in grades 7 & 10.
Spinal or Postural Screening is completed in grades 6-9. This screening for scoliosis is done yearly during these grades when the greatest growth spurts occur. If you choose not to have the screening performed by the School Nurse, the screening MUST be documented on the physical examination done be the child's Physician or Nurse Practitioner.
Physical Exams and BMI Screenings are required in grades 7 & 10.
