MERSD Elementary
Quarantine Learning Plan

Oh no! My child was ordered by the Department of Public Health to quarantine for an extended period of time due to exposure to COVID-19. What can we do about all of the learning that will be lost during the quarantine period?

We want to make sure your child continues to be engaged with independent learning, coordinated by MERSD staff, while at home. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. As soon as you learn that your child will be quarantined…

    1. ...please inform the school nurse of the situation. She will help you navigate the process from a medical standpoint.

  1. …please inform your child’s teacher and request make-up work to be set aside each day for your child to complete at home. Your child’s teacher will gather the work each day and will put it in the quarantine pickup bin outside the main entrance for you to pick up. Your child’s teacher will coordinate a time for you to pick up the work and will ensure that it is in the bin for contactless pickup.

  1. Please coordinate with your child’s teacher how/when to turn in assignments.

  1. Please refer to our “MERSD Elementary Schools Quarantine Resources” page for any extra help or additional practice your child may need. These resources can be found here: mersd-quarantine

  1. If you need to borrow a school device for your child to complete their work, please reach out to your building principal to make arrangements.

  2. Do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or the school nurse if you have any additional questions.
