WHAT is expected of Online Students?

It takes a lot of self-motivation for students to direct their own learning in a virtual environment. While you will be using robust online texts and curricula there are some strategies that can help you succeed.

There are some expectations about:

  • -- how much time you spend on each class,

  • -- attending virtual seminars, and

  • -- contacting your teacher.

Going to School Online

What does it mean to go to school online? Like all schools, MyMEADE Online is made up of many parts, most of them accessible through the Internet. MyMEADE Online students use the internet, an online program called Pathblazers or Edgenuity, Google Classroom, and the Communication Hub to show up for classes, share ideas and information with teachers and other students, access textbooks, read, write, ask and answer questions, work on projects, complete quizzes and tests, and do many other activities that are part of the school learning experience.

The Pathblazers and Edgenuity learning management systems are the core of the MyMEADE Online learning experience—this is where and how you'll come to school every day. To use Pathblazers or Edgenuity, you need to be connected to the Internet. You also need a username and password. This username and password will be shared with families prior to the start of online school.

District Expectations:

Students and parents can expect...

  1. The school will develop and explain the Virtual School process and expectations so that students and parents can make informed decisions when choosing to participate in Virtual School.

  2. Teachers will be available during scheduled hours (as communicated by the teacher) to provide academic assistance, when needed.

  3. If the student has an active 504 Plan or IEP, the district will help determine if the accommodations and support can be delivered virtually or if they will have to be modified.

  4. When students are approved for the medical option for virtual school, they will be expected to transition back to the traditional, In-person format at the end of the approved period.

  5. Students that choose virtual school may not participate in in-person extracurricular programs/activities.

Students and parents fully acknowledge that success is largely dependent upon the work and effort put forth by the student. Students who are not successful in Virtual School may have to attend in-person classes.
