Jeremy Mattoon - Executive Director

Jeremy Mattoon is the Director for all high school teams and oversees operations of the entire MDX-R program.

Coach Mattoon has been coaching lacrosse at every level for the past twenty years. He has coached youth, high school varsity, collegiate, and international teams. He spent five years coaching at the collegiate level where he experienced tremendous success as a recruiter, motivator, and field general. Coach Mattoon has been awarded Coach of the Year honors four separate times; most recently, as the head coach at Hood College in 2011 where he was named the Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and led his team to the conference playoffs for the first time in program history.

Steve Puhl - Middle School Director

Steve Puhl is the Director for all middle school teams (grades 5 - 8).

Coach Puhl has been been a teacher and high school lacrosse coach in Montgomery County for over 10 years. He is currently the Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Richard Montgomery High School. Coach Puhl led RM to an undefeated season and the most wins in school history in 2019. He was named the Montgomery County Coach of the Year & Richard Montgomery HS Coach of the Year in 2019. Coach Puhl has been working with MDX-R for four years. He also serves as the Head Coach of the MDX-R 2021 Elite & 2025 teams.

Dan Oliver - Elementary School Director

Dan Oliver is the Director for all elementary school teams (Grades 2-4).

Coach Oliver is a teacher and 5th/6th grade lacrosse coach at the Mater Dei School in Bethesda. He has also served as a Varsity Assistant Coach at St. John's College HS for the past 3 years. During Coach Oliver's time at St. John's the Cadets have made two Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) Championship appearances ('17, '19), and were crowned WCAC Champions for the first time in school history in 2017.

Coach Oliver has been working for MDX in various roles for the past 6 years. As the MDX-R Elementary School Director, Coach Oliver has taken significant strides to improve player development at the youth level. Working closely with US Lacrosse, he made MDX-R the first club in Maryland to implement the Athlete Development Model with our 3rd and 4th grade players (already standard in hockey, soccer, and other Olympic sports). He was named OBGC Coach of The Year in 2014. Coach Oliver is also the Head Coach of the MDX-R JV Select Team.
