MDIHS requires twenty hours of Community Service to graduate. Please spend some time to review the requirements, acceptable options and other info found on this website.
Why Community Service? Part of the MDI Regional School System’s mission is to prepare students to become responsible and involved citizens who acknowledge and respond actively and constructively to the diversity, complexity, and dynamic nature of our community and our world. Your time and talent matters!
Starting in 2026-2027, we are proud to explore another avenue for Community Service, through Civic Engagement. Why? Our MDIRSS Vision of the Graduate strives to foster active and informed citizens, who are knowledgeable about the issues in their community and willing to participate in the decisions and solutions needed for the future. Community Service and volunteering is vital, but doesn’t always connect students to this aspect of our society in the way Civic Engagement can.

We honor these students from the Class of 2026 who completed 60 or more documented hours while attending MDIHS. Congratulations! Also a shout-out to students who regularly volunteer, but don't necessarily turn in the extra forms. We applaud you, too!
