Kindergarten students have been immersed in fiction and nonfiction texts. We chose to create a story based on the genre “Fairy Tales” to connect with previous class objectives.

Fairy tales are a wonderful learning tool, as they teach us important morals and lessons in life. They also motivate children to make wise decisions and also internalize right from wrong.

Steps of Our Fairy Story

Students brainstormed ideas based on the topic, on a story web.

They chose 4 characters, 2 of them with magical powers. They selected the forest and the ocean as the settings. They identified the problem of the story, and how to solve it.

Then, altogether, developed the story plot taking into account all the elements previously mentioned.

Finally, they reflected on the stories' morals.
