Back to School Overview
This site is designed to keep the SSIMS Community updated on Back-to-School Information. Silver Spring International Middle School is pleased to announce that we will follow a traditional format for Back-to-School Night this year. Families will have the opportunity to visit teachers in their classrooms throughout the evening. In addition to meeting teachers, parents can attend a PTSA meeting and explore a resource fair, where they can sign up for a ParentVue account and learn about various activities, programs, and supports available at our school.
Childcare will not be provided, but you can bring your student(s) to help you navigate the building. Student ambassadors will also be available to assist. You can use the buttons below to access information about Back-to-School Night in the language you like.

We value your feedback. Please complete the BTSN Feedback Form. The form will be available on the website and count as your event attendance. There will also be a QR code for the form in the SSIMS building. Thank you for attending.

What to Expect:
Opening Session: Please join the principal and PTSA at the Sligo Creek Elementary School Auditorium for a welcome message.
Ambassadors: Student ambassadors will assist parents during the event, helping them navigate and answer any questions.
Resource Fair: The fair in the Media Center is designed to provide parents with access to various resources. They can get information about Parent View, sign up for technology, learn about Linkages for Learning and mental health services, explore extracurricular activities through brochures, and discover more about RJ sessions. This is an opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns before reviewing schedules.
Schedules: Caregivers are encouraged to access schedules electronically, but counselors can provide printed copies if needed.
Classroom Visits: During Back-to-School Night, parents will visit their children's classrooms and gain insight into the activities and plans teachers have for the students throughout the school year.
Community Representatives: Visit the tables outside the Media Center for more information on parent involvement, PTSA, construction updates, and more.
Interpreters: Interpreters for French, Spanish, and Amharic have been arranged

The Remind App is a messaging platform designed to facilitate seamless communication between MCPS schools, teachers, students, and parents. It ensures that everyone stays connected with timely updates, important announcements, and collaborative messaging.

Our vision at SSIMS is that all students will achieve at high levels when provided with access, opportunity, and support.
We are a school that offers the Middle Years Program (International Baccalaureate) and provides French and Spanish Immersion Programs.
