Orchestra Supplies


  • Violin: Rosin, shoulder rest, cleaning cloth (not chemically treated), one spare set of strings (Suggested: Dominant)

  • Viola: Rosin, shoulder rest, cleaning cloth (not chemically treated), one spare set of strings (Suggested: Dominant)

  • Cello: Rosin, rock stop (Suggested: Xeros, can be attached to chair), one spare set of strings (Suggested: Dominant)

All violin, viola, and cello students: Essential Elements for Strings, Book 1, published by Hal Leonard. (MCPS furnishes the book for all beginning students).

All advanced musicians will be given sheet music to be played at the Winter Concert.

All beginning and advanced musicians will be given sheet music to be played at the Spring Concert.


Band Supplies


  • Flute: Cleaning rod and cloth (handkerchief or thin rag)

  • Clarinet: Silk swab, cork grease, 4 reeds (Suggested: Vandoren, strength 2)

  • Alto Saxophone: Silk swab, cork grease, neck strap, 4 reeds (Suggested: Vandoren, strength 2)

  • Trumpet: Valve oil (Suggested: Al Cass), slide grease, cleaning kit (includes mouthpiece brush and snake)

  • Trombone: Slide grease/cream, small spray bottle for water, cleaning kit (includes mouthpiece brush and snake)

  • Baritone: Valve oil (Suggested: Al Cass), slide grease, cleaning kit (includes mouthpiece brush and snake)

  • Percussion: Need full snare/bell kit as well as snare sticks and bell mallets
