Hello! I am Sarah Ryan and I am thrilled to be teaching fifth grade this year. This will be my 8th year of teaching and my third year at AES.
I grew up in the NRV and graduated from Blacksburg High School in 2009. I earned a bachelor's degree in human development from Virginia Tech in 2013 (GO HOKIES!!) and a master's degree in elementary education from Mary Baldwin College in 2014. I started my teaching journey at Price's Fork Elementary where I spent 5 years in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. In 2020 I transferred to Auburn Elementary and taught 3rd grade. I'm excited to welcome back several of my former third graders this year!
Most of my family now lives in Austin, Texas so chances are if I go out of town, that's where I'm headed! I have two brothers and I am a very proud aunt to my 1.5-year-old niece, Blake. When I'm not at school I love to be outside running, walking, or hiking. I enjoy exercising early before school at Fit Body Boot Camp and I'm a big Hokie sports fan. I love attending sporting events - my students' included! Lastly, I love animals - I have two Calicos kitties at home (Fergie and Winnie) and one of my favorite yearly traditions is to incubate chicks in the spring!
