Camp Invention is coming back to MCPS this year! Camp will be held June 3-7, 2024 at Falling Branch Elementary School. It is open to all MCPS K-8 students who love STEM! This camp is an incredible opportunity for students and is often a child's favorite part of summer.

SEP is an academically challenging program with an emphasis on inquiry-based learning for students. The program is not meant to supplant the regular school curriculum; rather, it recognizes the importance of allowing able youngsters to explore additional specialized areas of science, mathematics, humanities, and arts. Course activities are compatible with the expected achievement of talented students at specific grade and age levels.   William and Mary offers a variety of Spring Saturday Enrichment Courses in both February and March. Summer Regional Governor's Schools (for students in grades 10-11)

Summer Regional Governor's Schools are available throughout the state.  The Summer Regional Governor's Schools exist in a variety of formats. These schools provide exciting opportunities in the arts, sciences, and humanities.  Summer Regional Governor's Schools typically are housed at a public school or on the campus of a college, community college, or university. The lengths of programs vary, with some lasting a week or less while others may last four or more weeks. Gifted students may apply for the regional summer school in their area. Program topics and grade levels vary among the sites and change from year to year in response to annual local evaluations and changing concerns in the localities sponsoring the Summer Regional Governor's Schools. Additional information can be found at the Virginia Department of Education's website

Focusing on the Future (for students in grades: 6-12)

Focusing on the Future, offered by the Center for Gifted Education in the College of William and Mary, exposes high-ability learners to career opportunities related to the arts, humanities, mathematics, and sciences. The program also informs parents of considerations and guidelines for effective career and academic planning. Students have the opportunity to learn about four career areas. Students are exposed to (a) information about work habits and "habits of mind" (e.g., precision and objectivity in math, skepticism and curiosity in science) that lead to successful careers in various fields, (b) an interactive discussion about a variety of career opportunities in a particular field, and (c) steps to take to prepare for specific careers. The date for this year is: Saturday, September 23rd, 2023. More information can be found at this website
