I have a question about...

Class Times or Schedule

Viewing Schedules

To see your Virtual Virginia (VVA) schedule, please log into your VVA account.  If you do not know your login information, contact Katie Larimer (klarimer@mcps.org).  While you can see student schedules when you log into PowerSchool Parent or Student Portal, this schedule does not accurately reflect the time of VVA synchronous sessions.

Synchronous Classes

Most VVA classes are synchronous this year, meaning that students are expected to attend live class sessions through Zoom at a regular time each day.  Attendance for synchronous classes is based on attendance during live sessions.  For more detailed information about the structure of VVA classes, see the VVA website:

Classes are labeled as synchronous or asynchronous when you look at the schedule in VVA.  See this document for a more complete explanation.

School Calendars

Virtual Virginia (VVA) and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) do not follow the same calendar.  Students in VVA classes will follow the VVA calendar for those classes.

Who to Contact

Depending on your question or concern, you will have a different point of contact.

If you are ever unsure who to contact, please reach out to Katie Larimer (klarimer@mcps.org), Supervisor of Virtual Learning for MCPS.

Grades

Grades for Virtual Virginia (VVA) classes will come directly from VVA teachers.  Students and families can see grades by logging into VVA.  See this document for more detailed information.

At the end of each MCPS grading period, students' current final grades in VVA classes will be added to PowerSchool (Parent and Student Portal).   For more information about accessing PowerSchool Portal, see the MCPS website here.

Success in Virtual Classes

Student Success

Please review Virtual Virginia's tips on How to Be a Successful Online Student and Daily To-Do List of a Successful Online Student.

Family Support and Involvement

Virtual Virginia (VVA) has Parent Auditor Accounts that allow families to stay current on student progress in classes.  MCPS has created Parent Auditor Accounts for each student based on the contact information in PowerSchool.  For more information about Parent Auditor Accounts, please see the VVA website.  If changes need to be made to your auditor account, please reach out to Katie Larimer (klarimer@mcps.org).
