Welcome to the McKinnon Secondary College Family Music Festival for 2021. It has been so exciting to see the interest in this project and we have had a great number of amazing responses. We'll be publishing new McKinnon Community videos each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so please continue to come back and enjoy our talented performances from McKinnon families, staff members, students past & present.

Set 13 - Thursday 21 October

Thank you for joining us on this fantastic musical journey for the last few months. It has truly been delightful to be able to present music from some of the amazing talented students, families and staff we have at McKinnon. For our final performance set we have Seffra Tienstra and her dad Marc, performing “Can’t help falling in Love”. Second we have the Serebrianik Quintet-ish performing “Rockin Time”. Our final performance is from past students James and Will Hardy with parents Helen and Alan performing Theme from "Professor Layton and the Unwound Future" by Tomohiti Nishiura.

Set 12 - Wednesday 20 October

Welcome back! First up today we have Susana O’Leary performing Minuet by Boccherini. Next we have Kaiwen Yu performing Etude op.25 no.1 by Frédéric Chopin. Our next performers are the Sweeney family (current students Jack and Jessica with future students, and dad ) performing “A thousand years”. Finally we have a Saxophone Ensemble (featuring Yasmin Higham, Ally Kuehn, Adam Pacak, Su Rogerson, Jay Shen, Amelie Villela, Martin West) performing I Got You by James Brown.

Set 11 - Tuesday 19 October

Today we are pleased to present Alma Segev from year 8 with dad Yonathan performing Stairway to Heaven. Second we have Drew Thomson and Tom Willaton performing Partners and Sidekicks. Finally we have Clare Bugeja and family performing the Mandalorian theme. Please enjoy the performances.

Set 10 - Monday 18 October

Welcome back to the Family Music Festival. This will be our final week of performances before students return over the next few weeks. Today we are focusing on some very talented junior students. First on the program for today is Louie Allen from year 9 performing a March Millitaire with Dmitry Serebrianik. Second we have Sabrina Vitiello from year 7 performing Yellow. Finally we have Benjamin Knox from year 7 performing the theme from Inspector Gadget and Harry Potter.

Set 09 - Friday 15 October

Welcome to another set in the Family Music Festival. First in today’s program is Rahul Rajaram performing the Indian National anthem on the keyboard. Next we have the year 10 trumpet quartet (Luc Georges, Mateja Edwards, Zachary Ha and Joshua Jo) performing the “1812 Overture” and “Aura Lee”. Our final performance in today’s program is the combination of past student Talia Raman and current student Isha Raman performing “Stay”. Congratulations to all our fantastic performers.

Set 08 - Monday 11 October

Welcome back to the Family Music Festival for 2021. We have a few more performances lined up for before all students head back to the classrooms at school. Today we are pleased to be able to present the Sa Pires Nyborg family performing “Cover me in Sunshine” by Pink. (Daniel from year 8 on Piano, Sara - mum, 7 year old Mathias and Year 11 Andre on Vocals). Second on the program is Dimitry Serebriank and family guests performing “Movie Buster'' by Sarah Watts. Finally we have the Year 9 trumpet quartet (James Spencer, Ethan Sellyn, Sean Teerapakawong and Filip Pacak) performing Hail the Conquering Hero by GF Handel.

Special Farewell Feature: Mini Soiree

Ms Su Rogerson will be taking leave from the beginning of term 4 to pursue an exciting new opportunity working with Lion Brewery. Here is a very small representation of some of the students that she has taught over her time at the school. From Year 7 we have Jordan Loie on Clarinet with “Every Breath You Take” by Sting. Nia Girish from Year 8 on Clarinet, is next playing a “Study” by Mark Walton. Next we have Yasmin Higham on Saxophone from Year 11 playing Jack Wilkins’ “Bossa Blues”. Also from Year 11 we have Rowan Shahar on Saxophone playing the jazz standard “Autumn Leaves” (written by Joseph Kosma, Johnny Mercer and Jacques Prevet). In the last of our solo items we have Adam Pacak from Year 12 playing “In Walked Bud” by Thelonius Monk. The conclusion of this mini-soiree is the Clarinet Choir playing the ‘Tetris Theme’. We wish Ms Rogerson the best of luck but will miss her enthusiastic approach to teaching woodwind at McKinnon.

Set 07 - Friday 17 September

Welcome to the end of term 3. Today we have Ethan Sellyn performing ‘Hatikvah’ by Samuel Cohen. Next up we have Georgia Foran and her father Matt singing “Sweet Child O' Mine” by Guns N' Roses. Finally we have past student Heny Barratt performing and original “Home Away From”. Stay safe and we will keep bringing the music to you.



Set 06 - Wednesday 15 September

Today we have 3 fantastic performances for you. First up is Arnav Mahajan performing ‘Raga Piloo’ on the Sitar. Next in today’s line-up we have the Pardo family (current student Daniel, past student Jonathan with parents Lucas and Simona) performing ‘Dos Gardenias’. Finally today we have the Camacho-Acevedo family (current students Valeria (flute) and Luis (double bass), with staff member Jesus (cuatro) ) performing ‘Pasaje del Olvido’ by Simon Díaz. Set 05 - Monday 13 September

Welcome back! We start the performances today with the Year 8 trumpets (Nathan Banh, Sam Markham, Obert Han, Mia Bronson, Felix Dinkelmeyer and Arnav Mahajan) performing Tromba Tango by Francis Clifford. Next we have the Seamer family: Clarissa (mum- violin), Bruce (dad - piano) and Andrew (violin) who are playing Irish Jigs. Finally for today we have Andrew (Double Bass) and Isaac (trombone) Albanis performing Blue Monk by Thelonious Monk.

Set 04 - Friday 10 September

Today it is with great pleasure that we present the Rodda family performing "Concerto for Two Mandolins" by Antonio Vivaldi, arranged for two violas and piano, then moving into Clocks by Coldplay. (Phoebe and Julia Rodda on violas, Langdon Rodda on piano, Tracey Rodda on percussion.) Next we have a Year 11 trumpet quartet (Drew Thompson, Tom Willaton, Emma Shaw and Rose McCallum) performing March by Benjamin Perrier (arranged by C.I.W Marlatt). Our final performance is from past student Nick Roney performing V. Fughetta from Five Bagetelles, Gerald Finzi for Clarinet and Piano.

Today I am very pleased to present three pianists. Firstly welcome Tilly Ashton-Rafferty performing Bach’s Prelude in C BWV 846. Next we have Katarina Vrisk performing a Slovenian folk song Po Jeseru. Finally we present International student Yolande Ye (currently studying in Germany) performing Chopins Fantasie-Impromptu in C# minor, Op. posth 66.

Today we're featuring ‘Feel It Still’ played by Adam, Filip and Patrick Pacak. Next we have Baltazar Kurowski and his family performing ‘Wither’ by Dream Theater. Finally we have Elise Liang performing a dance routine to “First”. We hope you enjoy these performances.

Today I am pleased to open the festival with the wonderful James’ family (current student Grace, with older siblings and past students Matthew and Chloe) performing ‘Grace Kelly’. Next we have Anthony Kostelac performing ‘10 minutes Ago’ from Cinderella the Musical. Finally we have the wonderful staff member Emma Griffingham performing Silvy.
