Webb counselor

The Webb Elementary Counseling Program strives to help each student know they belong to the Webb Family and are part of a Kind, Safe and Responsible Community. (The Webb Way) The Webb Way drives the counseling program to help students achieve success in the classroom, community and among their family with tools and resources for academic, social and emotional success.

Mrs. Lidington strives to create a comprehensive school counseling program which supports the academic, social-emotional, personal, and career development ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.

School counselors spend the majority of time working directly with students, teachers, parents, and the community in responsive services, individual student planning, as well as providing social and emotional curriculum to support the challenges students face in schools today.

Here I am at the 2022 Texas School Counseling Association Conference with my colleagues and the directors of MISD school counselors Jennifer Akins (left) and Errin French (right).

I have won the CREST award THREE years in a row for Webb. Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas (CREST) is sponsored by the Texas School Counselor Association (TSCA) and awarded to school counseling programs that meet CREST requirements. CREST is a continuous improvement document that school counseling programs can use to demonstrate effective communication and a commitment to obtaining results. I plan and implement a comprehensive school counseling program. https://tsca.txca.org/crest.php

Webb has won the The CREST Advocacy award-the highest award that can be awarded for the state December 2023!!  This is the fourth award in a row for Mrs. Lidington's counseling program.

Mission: The MISD counselors are a diverse group of service oriented professionals who believe in connecting our students, parents, schools and community with tools and resources for academic, social, and emotional success.

Motto: "Helping Students Create an Anchor for Life"

MISD Counselors champion the core beliefs of MISD through a focus on:

The Webb Elementary counseling program wants each child to feel a sense of belonging not only to the Webb community but also to their World. By using the zones of regulation and teaching many coping strategies, Mrs. Lidington is hopeful that students will not turn to unsafe or unhealthy ways to cope with the stressors of life. The goal is for each student to succeed in life academically, socially and to become a socially responsible citizen.

A students success is not only measured by their academic growth, but also by their social and emotional growth.  The counseling program helps prepare Webb students to know how to respond to unsafe situations, use appropriate communication skills, understand feelings, learn to problem solve and learn collaboration skills.  The Webb counselor uses a variety of data to determine the Webb students needs and uses morning meeting activities/questions and guidance lessons to help support each student on campus.

On the left is a video of what Webb looks like. On the right is why we took some drone shots. EVERY adult and student that is a Webb family member (staff & student) is on this puzzle. It helps everyone see YOU belong here and if you were not here, a piece of the Webb family is missing. You are that important!! You Are Loved and will always belong at J.W. Webb Elementary School. Once a Webb cub, always a Webb cub.

Thank you to C.G. Maclin for helping take drone pictures and videos to help our Webb family see They Belong Here.
