All About Me!

Hello and welcome! I am Ms. Defore, your 7th grade math teacher. I am thrilled to have you in my class this year!

Here’s a little about me: I was born and raised in North Georgia, and I later moved to attend The College of Coastal Georgia where I received my Bachelors in middle grades education with certification in the areas of mathematics and social studies. This year is especially exciting for me as it marks my first official full year as a teacher!

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my fur babies, family and friends.

I believe in creating an environment of life long learning, and I look forward to an amazing year together!

7th Grade Math Overview

In 7th grade math, students will explore several key concepts:

Numerical Reasoning: Students will tackle multi-step problems using rational numbers in various forms. They will practice solving real-world issues that require numerical calculations.
Probability and Reasoning: This unit will introduce students to chance processes. They will learn how to apply probability to real-world scenarios, helping them understand how likely events are to occur.
Geometric and Spatial Reasoning: Students will work on problems related to angle measurements, circles, surface area, and volume. This will help them understand the properties and relationships of different shapes and figures.
Patterning and Algebraic Reasoning: In this section, students will identify proportional relationships and justify their findings using tables, graphs, and equations. They will learn to create equivalent expressions and interpret them to explain relevant situations. By the end of this unit, students will know how to solve and represent real-life situations using equations and inequalities with variables.

Through these topics, students will develop essential math skills that they can apply in everyday life.
