Biotechnology is a three-year elective course where students will learn a multitude of laboratory skills and scientific concepts. Through research projects and hands-on labs, participants gain experience to prepare themselves for careers in STEM

Ms. Ford

Ms. Ford has taught in Manhattan Beach for 25 years and is a local South Bay native. She graduated from Mira Costa and attended UC Davis and LMU, earning a degree in Biological Sciences.  Ms. Ford attained her master's degree and teaching credential from Pepperdine, and currently teaches Astrophysics as well as Biotechnology. She has two grown-up children and enjoys live music, going to the gym, beach volleyball, and hanging out with friends.

Mr. Nodado

Mr. Nodado has been teaching a variety of high school science classes for 14 years. He's been with the Biotech program since 2017 and also currently teaches Honors Chemistry. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics. He then received a Masters in Science Degree at USC and his science teaching credential at UC-Irvine. Outside of the classroom, he loves to stay outdoors and enjoys hiking, biking, swimming, and running. He competes in triathlons and has recently picked up indoor rock-wall climbing as his new sport.
