STARS

Soar Towards Achievement and Results

The Basic Skills Program was renamed in September 2008 to the STAR Program. The STAR Program is designed to improve the reading, writing, and mathematics skills of students who do not meet grade level proficiencies. In this program students learn skills and strategies to help them achieve on grade level. The program recognizes individual learning differences and strives to build students’ competence and confidence. Emphasis is placed on the social and emotional growth of each student. Students have a need to feel good about themselves and develop a “can-do” attitude. Through a reinforcement of basic skills combined with a nurturing atmosphere, students will develop the academic skills necessary for success.
