✉️GOING HOME AT THE END OF THE DAY📳
If someone else will be collecting your child from school at the end of the day, please ensure you email or call the school office before 15:00 to ensure that any messages are passed on to the children.
🚗PARKING 🚙
Just a friendly reminder to please avoid parking in front of our neighboring school, St Mary's.
When cars are parked there, it blocks the entrance for school buses and taxis, especially during busy drop-off and pick-up times. Your cooperation helps keep traffic flowing smoothly and ensures the safety of the children.

We have had a brilliant week in Dormice class! The children have been learning about the school, making new friends and exploring inside and outside the classroom. We have been drawing, building towers, making potions and playing in the sand!
Miss Evison, Mrs Feaver and I are all so proud of how the children have begun settling in and look forward to spending more time with them over the coming term. Well done Dormice class, you have been amazing on your first few settles at big school.
Mrs Osborn
Reception Class teacher
It has been lovely having the children back and hearing all about the holidays. We started this term by writing about an imaginary holiday. We had some children writing about swimming with an octopus and mermaids, flown into space and some children even had a holiday with a dinosaur.
The children have also been learning the new rules and routines of Year One. We have started our Geography, Science, computing and PSHE lessons and the children have been working really hard at becoming independent learners. We are all so proud of how the children have started their Year One journey!

Year 2
Welcome all children and families to Year 2. It has been a delight to start to get to know all of the children this week. We have thrown ourselves into our learning this week and had fun learning all of the routines and expectations in Hedgehog Class.
We have started our unit on Place Value in Maths - the children have demonstrated a great understanding of number and their value so far. In English we have been working hard on our handwriting and sentence construction, making up silly sentences to hone those skills.
In art we have started working with natual materials to make art, taking inspiration from Adam Goldsworthy. The children created circular designs using pebbles and enjoyed the freedom this gave them to be artistic. Our geography learning this term is 'Into the Woods' a study of our local area - more details to follow about an up-and-coming welly walk!
Thank you all for welcoming us so warmly to Maynards Green and for your support.
Mrs Evans and Mrs Keet
Year Two Class Teachers
Welcome to Year 3! The children have risen to the challenge of KS2 and settled in beautifully. Much of the first week has been spent getting to know new routines and expectations and, most excitingly, using the Chromebooks. I am sure that they will have told you all about that!
In RE, we went outside to find things in nature that represented the colours of the rainbow. Then, we chose our favourite and said why.
We also began our Roman topic by sorting historical events into chronological order and discovering where the Roman period sat on that timeline. We were quite surprised at how long ago some of the categories were.
Thank you all for your continued support.
Miss Taylor
Year 3 Class Teacher
Year 4
Year 4 have made a fantastic start to the new term! We have begun an exciting topic in history, exploring the world of ancient civilisations. The children were tasked with looking at maps and information sheets about four of the ancient civilisations and finding similarities between them.
In art, we have started a new project all about patterns. The aim is to develop a mindful approach to working artistically. Children will explore how artists and designers use patterns in their own work, and then go on to explore ways in which they can create patterns in a playful way. We began by using needles and sugar paper to create sensory drawings.
It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm for both subjects, and we can’t wait to share more of the children’s learning with you soon.
Mrs Holton
Year Four Class Teacher
The children have made an excellent start to the new academic year. They have settled in to the Year 5 routine quickly, sorted out the 'class charter', discussed goals and expectations, and have proven to be enthusiastic learners. Outdoor learning has been a great success so far, with lots of enthusiastic chatter after the first session.
This week, the children started to learn about the ancient Greeks. They are excited to discover what life was like for the Greeks and are eager to find out how such a powerful empire fell to the Romans.
In other areas of learning, the children have been tasked with writing an atmospheric and haunting description of an old abandoned house. The descriptions so far have been excellent!
Miss Lacey
Year Five Class Teacher
What a great start to Year 6 we're having!
I have been extremely impressed with how well the children have settled into the routines and expectations that Year 6 brings. Many of the children are excited at the prospect of applying for a new job. The deadline for all jobs other than Head Boy and Head Girl is Friday 19th September, as the children will be sharing their presentations in class or handing their letters to me.
We have made a great start to our learning, making the most of our brand new Chromebooks. We have also created our class expectations and everybody (even the adults) signed them to show that we will meet them.
Miss Francis
Year Six Class Teacher
In Year 1 we have made a start on our Seasons learning by talking about the 4 different seasons and learning a song. If your child wants to hear it at home here is the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksGiLaIx39c
In Year 2 we have been identifying and classifying objects in our surroundings as living or non-living based on our understanding of MRS GREN. The children recorded down their findings in a table of results.
In Year 3 we have started our Scientific Enquiry unit and are planning and building solar ovens. The children are predicting what factors might make a solar oven more efficient.
In Year 4 we have started our habitats unit by grouping and classifying animals based on their habitat. The children worked in groups to sort the animals.
In Year 5 we have been learning about Sir Isaac Newton and his work on gravity. We conducted an investigation into the effect of mass on the speed an object falls to the ground. Our results demonstrated that the mass of an object does not affect the rate of the fall.
In Year 6 we have started our classification unit by understanding that scientists use key characteristics to identify and classify groups of living organisms. They then create classification keys to sort living things in those categories. The children created their own classification keys using liquorice all sorts to show their understanding of this method.
It's always lovely to hear how the children are inspired to develop their science at home. Please feel free to email me.

Mrs A
