Frequently Asked Questions
Therapy FAQs
How much will I invest in therapy?
I ask that everyone start with weekly sessions because that's what's proven to work, and in my experience it's the best way to figure out what works best for you.
Routine sessions at 50 minutes: $230
One-time Intake session at 60 minutes: $250
What insurance do you take?
I am an out-of-network provider, which means that I am not in-network with any insurances, but that you may be eligible receive some reimbursement. Typically, an HMO does not offer this, but a PPO is likely to. Here is a great guide to understanding your benefits. Visit the Resources page to look at options to streamline the reimbursement process.
You can also use that FSA/HSA money!
How long will I be in therapy?
The time that we're in therapy can vary, outside of highly structured treatment (such as CPT listed below). It depends on what you're bringing to therapy, what you hope to get out of it, and how much you practice outside therapy. I support you to reduce how often you're in therapy (from weekly down to biweekly), and to graduate from therapy when you're ready. Some people like to move on quickly, and others like to have a regular touchpoint indefinitely.
-Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD: 12 sessions + 1 intake session = 13 total sessions (about 3 months if weekly, 6 weeks if twice per week).
Do you have sliding scale?
Yes, I provide this through Open Path Collective, which offers sliding scale therapy for people who need it. $40-70/session + a one time fee of $65. Go to their website to see if you qualify. Note: I only offer CPT for PTSD on Open Path because it's a way for me to offer an effective treatment consistently.
Do you have an office for seeing people in-person?
I have a completely remote teletherapy practice, which means I see clients online using a secure platform. I can reach you wherever you are in California, and many of my clients find it convenient to meet with me in a private space at work, in their car, or anywhere with privacy and good internet connection/cell service.
Why don't you have a phone number listed here?
I hate spam calls. I want my phone line to be clear for you during my working hours. When you schedule an appointment/consultation, you'll have my phone number where you can text or call me.
