Submit your Future of Diabetes innovation to receive feedback from research scientists, clinical dietitians and doctors from MGH Diabetes Research Center, the Joslin Diabetes Center,and Charles River Medical Associates -- and the chance to win prizes!

Classwork to submit:

  • Laboratory journal notes, including a drawing or model of the idea (if applicable) or detailed description of how the innovation works.
  • Pitch deck, including all slides, and any presentation notes, needed to effectively present the idea to the panel of experts tasked with awarding grant funding. (Optional: video of presentation - audio and slides only, no students)
  • Answer to the reflection question: If you were on a decision making board with the task of choosing which innovation to fund, what criteria would you use to make your decision? List two criteria and explain your rationale.

All complete project submissions will receive industry expert feedback!

    • Challenge Winner | Awarded to the team with the best overall diabetes management or treatment idea, as demonstrated by the thoroughness of their pitch deck and the feasibility and potential impact of the developed idea on diabetes patients.
    • Innovation Award | Awarded to the team with the most creative project. The winning project demonstrates an innovative approach to tackling management or treatment of diabetes.
    • Presentation Award | Awarded to the team with the best project presentation. The winning project had materials that were clearly labeled, easily understandable and demonstrated the team’s outstanding knowledge and design process.

Prizes!

  • Challenge Winner| The winning team’s class (up to 25 students) will win a field trip to MGH Diabetes Center to learn more about the cutting edge research being done, tour the space, and meet scientists and doctors in the field.
  • Innovation and Presentation Awards winners| Winning teams will get a virtual meeting with a researcher at the Joslin Diabetes Center to talk further about their innovative idea and learn about a career in research.
