My name is Michael Scott and I’m please to be a faculty member at Riverside High school for the fall of 2017. I’ll be teaching both Physical Science and Fundamentals of Engineering.
I’m a 1977 graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Biology. My first teaching gig was in Franklin County, Va. Later I became interested in technologies for learning and obtained my Master’s degree in instructional technology, also from Va. Tech. I also recently completed a graduate course of study in eLearning. I’ve spent the last 13 years or so as technology facilitator in Botetourt County, Virginia. Make no mistake about it, the most important part of instructional technology is instruction.
Because of my background and strong belief that familiarity with digital technologies is an essential component to work and life, you’ll find that I do my best to integrate technology into my teaching and into student work. They need to know how to function in an increasing digital world.
I’ll be doing my best to communicate to students, the parents and community through my web pages and our Google Apps for education resources. Please check frequently to view student projects and their work.
My email contact is listed above. Please feel free to communicate with me through it.
You can access the courses I teach at Riverside High School below or at the links listed at the top of the page.
In addition to my work here in Martin County, I have my own site and write about technology and teaching. If you are interested, my web domain is:
