The Spahr Center’s released a teacher and parent/guardian Toolkit for LGBTQ+ inclusive schools

A student panel launched the workshop explaining the importance of why this toolkit should be used throughout our students' lives. The panel and workshop also included:

  • Implementation of LGBTQ+ best practices;

  • How to become an active ally to LGBTQ+ students;

  • Guidance on advocating for LGBTQ+ students; and

  • Lesson plans and other resources.

Attention Middle & High School Students & Staff!

Complete the 90 minute LivingWorks Start Suicide Prevention Online Training Program!

  • This online training program helps participants learn to recognize when a young person might be experiencing emotional distress or having thoughts of suicide, and teaches them how support and connect them to professional help.

  • Youth who complete the LivingWorks Start Program will be empowered to recognize behaviors in others that could indicate emotional distress or thoughts of suicide and know how to connect them to professional help. Community Service Credits are also available to those you th who complete the training.

This training is provided to you at no cost as a result of AB 1808 California Education Code Section 216 (Assembly Member Berman) and meets the requirements of AB2246 California Education Code Section 215 (Assembly Member O'Donnell).

The series initially came together in summer 2020 in response to the challenges families were facing while quarantining, social distancing, and remote learning, and in an era of heightened racial strife. Move, Groove & Grow: A Teacher's Resource for SEL

Youth in Arts and the Marin County Office of Education released a 6-part video series for integrating kinesthetic experiences into the classroom to foster Social Emotional Learning (SEL). This course provides additional framework, ideas, tangible resources, and encouragement for promoting SEL in this NEW way of teaching. The course follows the student resource "Move, Groove & Grow: My Thoughts and Feelings Through Movement" with videos and activities for teachers who want a ready-made learning experience to bring to their classrooms!

Additionally, this course provides a number of science-learning resources for content introduced in the video series.

California Parent & Youth Helpline and Online Support Groups

In partnership with Governor Newsom, Parents Anonymous® Inc. recently launched the California Parent & Youth Helpline and Online Parents Anonymous® Support Groups in response to the Coronavirus to provide free trauma-informed, evidenced-based emotional support to Parents, Children and Youth in any language via calls, text, live chat and email.

  • The California Parents & Youth Helpline operates 7 days a week from 8:00AM-8:00PM.

  • Parents can join a Weekly Online Support Group NOW through the website: caparentyouthhelpline.org. In this confidential setting, Parents address their underlying emotions and build resiliency to strengthen their family.

  • This is FREE for Parents, Caregivers, Children and Youth
