It has been another busy week here at Marden. I would like to start by saying well done to all of the children for successfully navigating the heat wave at the start of the week. Their sensible behaviour during such warm weather was commendable, and we are grateful for the support you provided in ensuring that they arrived equipped with their water bottles and sun cream.
On Wednesday, our Eco Warrior club was visited by Miss Petrie (a former pupil) who shared a presentation promoting making Marden a plastic-free community. This was a fantastic way for the children to learn more about the effect plastic can have on our environment and the importance of trying to reduce it. I would like to thank Miss Petrie for taking the time to come and work with our children.
Today, Year 6 had the wonderful opportunity to present their PYP exhibition to other schools, alongside their parents and families. We would like to express our gratitude to those who attended this event. The children all worked extremely hard on this project so it was lovely for them to have the chance to share it with others.
Looking ahead, we are pleased to announce that next Tuesday will see our first whole school transition session. This will provide the children with a valuable opportunity to meet their new teacher. We hope this will help the children to foster strong relationships with their new teacher and will support their transition into the next academic year.
Next Wednesday we have our summer fair. As previously mentioned, due to ongoing building work, this event will be conducted during the school day and will be exclusively for the children. We kindly request that the children bring any spending money in a named envelope or purse/wallet, which they should give to their class teacher at the start of the day. This money will be securely held in the office until it is their turn to visit the fair.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Office Messages
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This is a friendly but important reminder regarding our school's policy on medication.
For the safety of all children, all medication that needs to be administered during school hours must be signed in via the school office by a parent or guardian.
Children should not be sent to school with medication in their bags. The only permitted medicines are:
Inhalers/Epi pens (must be prescribed and signed in)
Calpol/Paracetamol (only if prescribed or with prior arrangement for specific conditions)
Antibiotics (must be prescribed and signed in)
Piriton/Antihistamine (must be prescribed or for known allergies and signed in)
Eye Drops (must be prescribed)
Please note that we are unable to administer Nurofen at school. Additionally, cough sweets are not permitted due to them being a choking hazard and will be confiscated if found.
Your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines is greatly appreciated as it helps us ensure the well-being and safety of every child.
A member of the Marden Community is collecting donations of red and white summer dresses and unbranded cardigans to send to a school in Malawi. Your unneeded items can make a real difference!.
Please drop off any donations at the office by Friday, July 11th, 2025.

iPads are a familiar fixture in many households and classrooms, offering access to educational tools, entertainment, and the internet in one sleek package; however, with great versatility comes notable risk. From accidental spending and data privacy breaches to excessive screen time, there’s plenty for parents and educators to consider before handing over the device. While Apple offers built-in safeguards such as ‘Screen Time’ and ‘Family Sharing’, these features must be correctly set up and actively managed to be effective.
Our #WakeUpWednesday guide walks you through these options and highlights some of the more surprising ways children can get around restrictions – including with Siri – while offering practical advice on how to help keep young users safe and healthy online.
