Treatment Philosophy

If you are reading this, it is a safe bet you understand the challenges of living with an untreated or inadequately treated mental health condition. Day-to-day tasks that others navigate with ease become difficult. The once vivid dreams you had of the future become shaded with doubts. Perhaps you tried therapy and it was not enough. Maybe you tried medications and they had more side effects than they were worth. The only thing more frustrating than the symptoms of your illness is the growing sense that you will never get better.

I would love to write that I have secret knowledge of a cure or a fool-proof system that guarantees results. I do not. No such thing exists. What I can promise is that I will do all within my power to ensure you are equipped to wage war against your illness. I will help you identify your treatment options and think through the possible benefits and consequences. I will keep in touch with you and the people involved in your care to ensure you are not alone in your struggle. I will listen to your experiences and be open and honest with my feedback.

Let's work together to make a difference in your symptoms.

Professional Background

I have been working in the mental health field for since 2011. My experience ranges from children through older adults in a variety of settings including both inpatient (in the hospital) and outpatient (in the office). I worked for the University of Rochester and Rochester Regional Health which gives me insight and connections to our community's resources. I am currently a professor of Psychiatric Mental-Health Nursing at St. John Fisher University where I teach the next generation of nurse practitioners the art and science of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. I value prompt collaboration with you and the other people involved in your care (including family, friends, therapist, primary care physician, and any other specialists). I will respond to you personally within 24 hours in the event you need to contact me between sessions and I will work directly with the other people involved in your care to ensure you receive the best treatment possible.
