Guy Pawlicki

High School English Teacher

Professional Background

I started my college career at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, MI. I transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Superior where I earned my Bachelor's of Science degree in English (Secondary Education) in 1993. I have also earned numerous graduate credits in education from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN and Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee, WI. I also possess many bloodborne pathogen training certificates.

Favorite Thing About Teaching

My favorite thing about teaching is the opportunity it affords me. No one day is ever the same. I am able to work in a content area I enjoy. I'm allowed the unique chance to help young people learn, grow, and develop into their adult selves. It's not a bad way to spend a career.

Favorite Thing About Teaching in Merrill

My favorite thing about teaching in Merrill is the people. I have been fortunate enough to have been teaching here for my 26th year. In that time I have had the privilege to work with many outstanding educators who have pushed and challenged me to be the absolute best educator I can be. The parents of students are supportive in this district which is critical in the educational process of their children. The students (usually) are receptive to receiving the education we provide, and many of them have made a lasting impact on my life.

Hobbies

Even though it may be included as part of my job, I consider coaching to be my hobby. I have coached three sports for almost my entire time in Merrill, and that has been very rewarding for me. I also enjoy spending time in the UP (Michigan's Upper Peninsula) where I was born and raised camping, fishing, and anything associated with the "Up North" life eh!
