Personal Background

Hi. My name is Clifford Prahl and I have been teaching here at Merrill High School since the fall of 2014. I grew up on a dairy farm East of Wausau, attended Wausau East High School, UW- Marathon County, and then UW- Stevens Point. My wife is an Associate Professor of Biology at UWMC, and we continue to live a half-mile from that farm on which I grew up. I have also served as a member of the Town of Wausau Volunteer Fire Department since 1992, including more than twenty years as an officer. I enjoy being in the woods whenever I can, and especially enjoy cutting the firewood that keeps our house warm on those cold Wisconsin winter nights. My wife and I are also, of course, Packers and Brewers fans.

Teaching has been an incredibly rewarding career so far, and it has been a real pleasure to see the growth of shy, quiet, awkward, and struggling students into confident, successful and mature adults. I have especially enjoyed getting to know the staff and students of Merrill High School, and becoming better acquainted with the Merrill community as a whole. What great people!
