Decker Middle School Bands
Excellence Every Day, Every Way
Excellence Every Day, Every Way
At Decker Middle School, Band is more than a class — it's a community of learners, leaders, and performers. We are proud to offer a strong program that supports students in developing musicianship, teamwork, and excellence. Whether your child is just starting or continuing their musical journey, we are excited to have them in the band family.
There are no prerequisites to be a beginner in the Decker Band program. If you are interested in the Decker Bands, please reach out to your guidance counselor or email Mr. K at christopher.koenig@manorisd.net.

Meet the Teachers
Christopher Koenig, Head Band Director
Responsibilities: Honor Band and Brass Beginners
"This is my 22nd year teaching and my second at DMS. I love creating community, systems, and exposing kids to great music. In addition to teaching, I serve in the 36th Infantry Division Band of the Army National Guard, where I lead the Marching Band, Brass Quintet, Training, and Special Projects. I live in Round Rock with my wife, Jennifer, and my daughters Lorelai and Cora. We love to travel, hike, and cook amazing food."
Amanda St Amand, Assistant Band Director
Responsibilities: Symphonic Band and Woodwind Beginners
"This is my fourth year at DMS and I love watching these students grow and thrive in the Band Hall. I am a Clarinet player from Colorado, but I got to Texas as fast as I could. I believe in teaching the whole child, and I love supporting their social and emotional well-being in addition to their musical journey. I live nearby with my husband, Scott, and my Fur Babies Zelda and Link (the bestest kitty cats in the world - just ask and I'll tell you all about them)!"
