SPAIN 2024

Program Overview

The Office of International Science and Engineering (OISE) at the National Science Foundation (NSF) supports International Research Experiences for Students (IRES). Starting 2023, for three years, this IRES site will provide an immersive eight-week research program in Zaragoza, Spain, offering US undergraduate students an opportunity to travel abroad and receive mentorship while gaining research experience.

Manhattan College (MC) and The City University of New York, College of Staten Island (CUNY/CSI) co-host this IRES program at the University of Zaragoza (UZ) in Spain in the field of Smart Connected Systems. This program will support six US undergraduate students per year and provide them the opportunity to conduct mentored research at UZ in Spain for eight weeks during the summer.

The overarching objective of this multicultural, interdisciplinary project is to provide the next generation of American engineers and scientists with a global perspective on collaboration, unique hands-on educational opportunities in the field of smart connected systems through international experiences thus enhancing future US global competitiveness, providing professional training and advancing and promoting science.
