Percussive airway therapy made easy.
The Fibrosis impact clearer is a handheld oscillating device that is safe for use on infants suffering from Cystic Fibrosis. Treating victims. Easing the lives of parents. One child at a time.
Percussion therapy can be tiring and time consuming, our mission is to make treatment of infants with the disease easier on parents by creating a handheld mechanical device that can automate a rapid impact on an infant’s torso and back. We hope our device will help cut the effort and time down for the parents while simultaneously providing a device that can help a sick child breathe easier.
An Arduino UNO was utilized In this project to control oscillating movement to the solenoid of choice. The relay module was integrated into the circuit to remotely power the the solenoid on or off.
Designed using SolidWorks, to output an average of 9 pounds of force with each impact. Effectively breaking up stubborn mucus buildup without causing harm or discomfort to the infant.
Our prototype was designed to be simply recreated through a series of 3D prints which can be assembled very easily. The circuitry used will be externally housed by a separate print and will be able to be attached to the arm through a strap mechanism in future builds.
