A reminder that we are on patrols this week.
Here is the roster.
Now let's share our maramataka for today.
There are a few panui related to how things will work in light of the workspace for the Property rebuild.
First we will watch Sally, then I will share some more information and then we will go for a walk and talk.
What do you need to do today to ensure that you are 'Switched onto your learning'?
Read the different sentence starters, then choose the one that you would like to focus on today. Record your 'Switching onto learning' goal on the slip provided.
We will reflect on how we did at the end of the day.
Explore the different images, objects and sounds.
Record your noticings and responses on the sheet provided. Be prepared to share your discoveries.
Please glue this page into your LITERACY book.
What is ANZAC? What is important to remember? How do we remember? Who do we remember?
To help explore these questions we will be completing a number of ANZAC related activities today. Our Reading, Writing, Word Work, Inquiry, Art, Baking will all be integrated into these activities.
HOW IT WORKS...
You will need to complete each of the activities listed below. You have the rest of the day.
Activities with the MAHI TAHI symbol need to be completed in a group.
All other activities will be completed independently.
At the end of the day all your learning will be displayed on a group ANZAC Collage (see below for examples)
Chalk Talk
This is a mahi tahi/group activity. Record all your group's thinking about the ANZACs. (Ideas, Knowledge, Questions, Connections etc)
You can complete this on a device (make a copy and share with your group members and move it to your INQUIRY folder) or you can complete a paper copy.
Word Work
This is an independent activity exploring ACRONYMS.
Once you have completed this activity please date it and glue it into your LITERACY book.
Not sure what an acronym is? Watch this youtube clip to find out more.
ANZAC reading hunt...
This is an independent reading activity.
Each MKid needs to collect a jigsaw puzzle piece. You then need to read the ANZAC Day information that is located around the room. Respond to the questions/activities on your puzzle piece.
Your completed puzzle piece will be glued onto your group's ANZAC collage.
Remembering the ANZACs
This is a mahi tahi/group activity. Record all your group's thinking about how and why we remember the ANZACs.
You can complete this on a device (make a copy and share with your group members and move it to your INQUIRY folder) or you can complete a paper copy.
MORNING TEA
Research time... Kairangahau
This is an independent activity - but each member of your group needs to explore a different text.
Find out more about an area that interests you. Click on the link below to explore some reading texts (additional texts are also available in hard copy in the classroom) or watch one of the clips below.
When you have finished you need to collect information to be included on your Group's collage. You might display these as ANZAC facts, or you might write a paragraph about a chosen ANZAC topic.
Map it!
This is a group mahi tahi activity.
Where is the world is Gallipoli? Locate Gallipoli on a map. When you have found a map showing this location, copy the image onto a google slide. Share it with Miss McDonald for printing for your collage.

Any other images that you would like to include (please put these onto a google slide and share with me for printing)
