The Short cut

The Shortcut pre-writing and writing activities

Today we will be exploring vocabulary and sentence structure.

We will complete some prewriting activities and then plan and begin to write our own text.

INQUIRY - Why Dance? 9.45-10.30am

We will start with our whole school dance.

Then we will have a little refresh/fine tuning around our group dances.

Next we will revisit the Aotearoa moves and some moves for our Gumboots item.

A heads up - ALL UNIFORMS NEED TO BE SENT INTO SCHOOL IN A NAMED PLASTIC BAG BY THE END OF WEEK 2 SO THAT WE CAN MAKE SURE EVERYONE HAS WHAT THEY NEED AND START RECORDING IN WEEK 3.

Athletics training continues today. We will meet on the big side straight after morning tea Mon-Thurs. Please wait on the court in a Room 2 class line.

As you come back in from the Big Side, please wash your hands or sanitise.

We will have our Maths cross over groups today following Athletics.

You will head straight to your maths class.

  2. Read the text.

Room 2 - you will all need to complete your group reading activity and both of these independent tasks in today's session.

Xavier and Ekam - You need to complete your Reading, Handwriting and a decodable book and follow up game or STEPS

Handwriting - Tuesday 26th October

Our writing is showing that contractions and where to use an apostrophe are a hotspot for many of us, so we will focus on this as part of our handwriting.

What to do:

  1. Get your WORD WORK book and a pencil.

  2. Carefully complete your handwriting. Make sure to read ALL the instructions (date, leave lines, two borders, rule off)

  3. Remember to show KAIRANGI/Excellence.

  4. Please hand your Word Work Book in for marking.

EDITING CHALLENGE

What to do:

  1. Glue a copy of this page into your WORD WORK book.

  2. Read the text.

  3. With your red pen edit this text. You need to find 4 spelling mistakes. Add 3 capital letters, 1 full stop and 2 commas.

  4. Please hand your Word Work Book in for marking.
