As we transition from Edublogs towards our new Manaiakalani developed sharing platform, Pitomata, we want to ensure the 2026–2027 Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) remains accessible to every learner who wants to join in—whether they have an active Edublog or not!
No Edublog Required: Registered participants will receive their own personal copy of a Journey Journal as a Google Doc. They will use this document to respond to and share all of their Summer Learning Journey activities. All docs will also be shared “Anyone with the link can comment”.
Comments: The SLJ Commenting Team will use the Comments tool in Google Docs to comment on all posts. Learners can view and reply to all comments on their Summer Learning Journey Journal Doc.
To build confidence with navigating and editing a Google Doc for the SLJ, we encourage teachers to support their students by particiapting in our weekly Cybersmart Challenges in Term 4.
When: Every Wednesday in Term 4, starting 14 October.
Where: Cybersmart Challenge Website
How It Works: Each challenge comes with a Google Doc template. Learners can make a copy to complete and share their work.
Key Skills Learners Will Practise:
Editing and formatting text in Google Docs
Inserting images
Adding Smartchips to attach files (Slides, Videos, Drawings) directly from Google Drive
14 October: Weekly Cybersmart Challenges launch in Term 4
14 December: Official start of the Summer Learning Journey
