Critical Reasoning
The provocation of the question “why people should celebrate ANZAC day ” lends itself to critical reasoning.
The student attempts a critically reasoned response “They wanted us to have a good future” by anticipating a counter argument “Well there is WWII...”. The warrant is weakly presented, but the point the student is wrestling with is the irony - even though “they wanted the best for us” the world still ended up in a second world war although those soldiers “didn’t know about that”. The implication is “super horrible” - worse than both wars? - which is why we shouldn’t forget.
