Abstract
This article explains the implications of mass media on criminal acts committed by young people by analyzing the role of socialization agents in shaping children's behavior using the social disorganization theory from the perspective of Clifford Shaw and Henry McKay. The research focuses on the impact of mass media on the normalization of violence and deviant behavior. It reflects the policy of child protection laws as positive law that defends the position of children in deviant behavior. The author argues that legality through law and exposure to mass media content result in the high rates of violence committed by minors. The research methodology uses a qualitative approach with various content analysis methods, including primary data collection through scraping national media data by analyzing news forms related to mass media and violent acts committed by minors from five national digital media outlets (Tempo, Kompas, Detik, CNN, and Republika). It also involves secondary data analysis from BPS/statistical data for the 2020-2024 period to examine trends in social violence frequently committed by minors and resolution strategies in addressing acts of violence.
