Despite the arctic weather of Feb 14, the Warriors Swimmers and Divers heated up the GBN pool on Saturday with a great showing for their end-of-season competition! Together, the boys had 93% of the total swims (and dives) posting their personal bests times/scores of the season! The morning started off with Devin Peters having a personal best diving score of 252.50 taking 9th place. Senior Jake Hill followed just behind taking 10th with a final score of 235.95. During the swimming, Phil Vaccarello took 2nd place in the 50-free with a time of 22.76. Phil also took to the awards stand for a 6th place finish in the 100-free with a final time of 50.52. Tony Connor also joined him on the blocks finishing 4th in the 100-fly going a 56.28. The 200-freestyle relay also took the awards block taking 3rd place going 1:32.28, which also becomes the 3rd fastest relay time in school history! The relay members were Adam Babczak, Tony Connor, Ethan Herrera, and Phillip Vaccarello. The JV Warrior Swimmers and Divers participated in the CSL Conference Meet on Friday at Glenbrook North. They took 5th place overall.
Some notable placings included Aaron Bilski taking 4th place in diving with a new personal-best score of 172.45. Paul Bilski took 5th place in the 200-IM with a time of 2:29.61. The 400-free-relay took 5th place with a time of 4;04.08. The relay included: Anthony Aloniz, Paul Bilski, Ryan Paneka, Sam Ure.
The boys also had some great end-of-season time drops including Ryan Paneka with 10-second drop in the 200-free with a final time of 2:26.97. Sam Ure had a 7-second drop in the 100 -free with a time of 1:01.34. Sam also posted a 5-second drop in the 100-breast to go a 1:15.76. Anthony Alonzi dropped 2 seconds in the 50-free going a 26.66.
Full results from this weekend's meets are attached. The Warriors Swimmers and Divers move on to IHSA Sectionals that will also be held at Glenbrook North High School on Saturday, February 21. Diving is at 9am and swimming is at 1pm.
