Welcome to the Maine West Band Department

The Band Department at Maine West offers the high school musician many opportunities in performance, leadership and community, while in an atmosphere of authentic and positive peer interaction.    Students in the band program can experience the rush of a football game halftime performance, the adrenaline of competition, and the creative expression of a symphonic concert setting, all while fostering lifelong friendships.

The skills taught both musically and extra-musically can not only enrich their present day life, but also provide life skills they will need in the future.   We work to continue the lifelong process of music, whether it be as a performer after high school, a student of music at the college level, or simply an educated consumer/appreciator in society and culture.

About the band program

The Maine West band program is made up of students from grades 9 through 12, and exists as an inclusive, welcoming environment both musically and socially.
Students can participate in band as a curricular class on a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument and can perform in various curricular and extra curricular ensembles.   We work with students to have a comprehensive education including the arts with other interests, clubs and sports activities.
